Orders Validity: Limit Order

An order placed with a brokerage to buy or sell a set number of shares at a specified price or better.

For example,
if the bid/ask price for share ABC is $2.50/$2.60 and you placed a limit order to sell 1000 shares at $2.70, You will be selling your shares when the bid price raise to $2.70, that is to say you only sell your shares at $2.70. Below that, they will not be sold.
